Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, has refuted allegations that he urged religious scholar Dr. Mohamed Iyaz Abdul Latheef to divorce his wife following her arrest for protesting Israel’s ongoing actions outside foreign embassies in Malé. Dr. Shaheem clarified that he had not spoken to Dr. Iyaz for some time and claimed that it was Dr. Iyaz who had publicly expressed grievances about his wife.
