Customs Seize 9kg of Drugs

The Maldives Customs Service has intercepted nine kilograms of drugs smuggled into the country via air transport. 

The seizure was made in two separate incidents involving air cargo and a passenger arriving from Sri Lanka. According to authorities, the first incident occurred on September 16th, when a 65-year-old Maldivian man arriving from Sri Lanka was found in possession of 349 grams of heroin.

Two days later, on September 18th, suspicious items were discovered in an air cargo shipment and post packages. Further inspection revealed 582 grams of synthetic cathinone, 5,210 grams of cannabis, and 2,870 grams of ecstasy.

Initial testing confirmed the presence of four different types of drugs, with a total combined weight of 9.01 kilograms.
