MSS Expands Operations with New Feeder Service to Indonesia

Maldives State Shipping (MSS) has announced the launch of a new feeder service to Indonesia, marking a significant expansion of its operations in the region.

This service will link the port of Belawan in Indonesia with Port Klang in Malaysia and Colombo in Sri Lanka, using MSS’s own vessel, the MSS Graphene.

The expansion builds on MSS’s successful introduction of a feeder service to Malaysia in July last year. Once cargo arrives in Colombo, it will be seamlessly transferred to the Maldives through MSS’s established Colombo-Malé routes.

Thaha Mohamed, Chief Commercial Officer of MSS, highlighted the strong reception of the new route, noting that 70% of the cargo for the first trip has already been successfully completed.

MSS currently operates a fleet of five vessels, providing cargo services between Malaysia, Colombo, Malé, and Dubai. The company also runs scheduled services from Malé to Addu. With agents in over 30 ports worldwide and a container capacity exceeding 2,500, MSS is well-positioned to facilitate the importation of goods to the Maldives from across the globe.
