Minister of Health Represents Maldives at APRFHE

Minister of Health Dr Abdulla Khaleel has attended the 12th High-Level Officials Meeting (HLOM) of the Asia Pacific Regional Forum on Health and Environment (APRFHE) as the head of the Maldives delegation.

The forum will focus on strategies to address health and environmental emergencies. The Ministry of Health has highlighted the significance of the forum in fostering intergovernmental collaboration to tackle these urgent issues. Additionally, preparations are underway for the 5th Ministerial Meeting, scheduled for September 26.

The APRFHE forum prioritises knowledge-sharing and policy advocacy to mitigate health risks associated with environmental factors, promoting a comprehensive approach that aligns with global frameworks. The health ministry noted that the forum provides an opportunity for the Maldives to acquire technical expertise and resources, aiding in the development of sustainable and cost-effective healthcare and environmental policies.

Established in 2004, the forum serves as a vital platform for discussing measures to address the intricate relationship between environmental factors and public health outcomes across the Asia-Pacific region. The ministry stated that Maldivian delegates will work alongside representatives from other countries to address shared concerns.
