The exhibition was inaugurated by Chief Guest, Malé City Mayor Adam Azim, alongside several prominent figures from the event’s sponsors, including Maldives Islamic Bank’s Managing Director Muffadal Idris Khumri and Eyecare Opticals’ Managing Director Dr Abdulla Zahir. Their presence underscored the importance of corporate support for the Maldivian art scene.

With over 180 submissions from artists, a total of 94 exceptional pieces were selected to be showcased, reflecting the unique interpretations and creativity of local talent. From paintings and sketches to mixed media, the exhibition captures the essence of Picasso’s revolutionary approach to art, while allowing each artist to bring their individual vision to life.

During the opening ceremony, certificates and awards were presented to the top 10 artists, as chosen by a panel of esteemed judges. The recognised artists were:

Further accolades were given to the top three artists for their outstanding contributions to the exhibition:

Running from 1st October to 10th October at the National Art Gallery, "Through The Eyes of Picasso" offers a vibrant look into how Maldivian artists reinterpret the work of one of the world’s most influential painters. Visitors can experience a broad spectrum of artistic styles while gaining insight into the local art scene.

Entrance fees are set at MVR 20 for locals and USD 5 for foreigners, with the exhibition promising to inspire all who walk through its doors.
