President Muizzu has condemned the spread of false news and disinformation, describing it as one of the societal ills afflicting Maldivian society and being at odds with Islamic values. Speaking on the occasion marking the Maldives’ embrace of Islam, President Muizzu questioned whether current societal practices in the country reflect the values espoused in the Quran. He raised concerns about whether Maldivian society should realign itself with the true principles of Islam, expressing sorrow over its current state.
