The Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) and Island Aviation Services (IAS) have reached an out-of-court settlement over a civil dispute concerning MVR 5.6 million owed by the party to the national airline.
The Civil Court ruled today that IAS, which operates Maldivian Airlines, had withdrawn its complaint after MDP paid MVR 1 million and agreed to a payment plan in June.
The debt pertains to flights chartered and tickets purchased on credit by the MDP in the lead-up to last year’s presidential election.
The court has closed the case as requested by Island Aviation, with the option to reopen the matter if the agreed payments are not fulfilled.
