Parliament Delays Third Session by One Week

MV+ News Desk | October 7, 2024

The commencement of the third session of the 20th Parliament has been postponed by one week, according to an announcement from the Parliament Secretariat.

Originally scheduled to begin today, the first sitting has been rescheduled to next Monday. The delay is attributed to ongoing work to establish a video room within Parliament, which has presented challenges for broadcasting the proceedings, the Secretariat informed members.

The decision was made by Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla, whose message to members noted that the updated timeline aims to ensure the new broadcast facilities are fully operational.

Parliament previously adjourned on 22 September, having completed 82 per cent of its scheduled work for the previous session, as announced by Speaker Abdulla.
