MIRA Publishes List of 170 Companies with Unpaid Taxes

The Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has published a list of 170 companies that failed to pay tourism and green taxes for the first two quarters of this year.

According to MIRA, the listed companies have outstanding amounts of up to MVR 100,000 in Tourism Goods and Services Tax (T-GST) and Green Tax by the end of the second quarter. The list includes several prominent companies in the hospitality and tourism sectors, including:

  2. Kihaa Maldives
  3. Triton Prestige
  4. Rahaa Resort
  5. Moodhu Holidays
  6. Velidhoo Island Resort
  7. Oaga Art Resort
  8. Resort Life Travel
  9. South Palm Resort
  10. Nazaki Hotels and Resorts
  11. Eriyadhu Island Resort
  12. Mirihi Island Resort

MIRA stated that the list was made public following repeated reminders and notices sent to the companies in question. The authority reported that it had issued over 44,390 text messages, made 22,761 phone calls, and sent 30,550 notices to taxpayers. Additionally, MIRA offered instalment payment options to 397 entities to help settle their tax obligations.
