The Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has introduced a career guidance initiative, “MACL Career 2024,” aimed at educating schoolchildren about the various job opportunities within the company.

The programme’s first event took place today at Ghaazee School as part of MACL’s ongoing efforts to raise career awareness among students, in line with its social responsibility commitments.

The primary goal of “MACL Career 2024” is to provide students with vital information about career prospects in the aviation industry and airport operations, helping them make informed choices about their future professional paths.

At the launch event, MACL’s CEO and Managing Director, Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed, highlighted the company’s dedication to nurturing technically skilled professionals. He emphasised the importance of students understanding the wide range of opportunities MACL offers. Unlike many airports, Velana International Airport operates as a self-sufficient community, with municipal services and various industries beyond traditional airport operations. Shareef noted that this makes MACL a unique organisation, providing career paths across multiple sectors. He expressed hope that more Maldivians would contribute to the company in various fields.

Ghaazee School Principal, Basheera Mohamed, also addressed the students, emphasising the importance of being aware of job market opportunities after completing school. She praised MACL’s efforts to strengthen the relationship between schools and the wider community, describing the event as a reflection of the company’s commitment to nation-building. Principal Basheera thanked MACL’s management and staff for offering this valuable opportunity to the students.

The “MACL Career 2024” initiative will consist of two sessions. A raffle will be held during each session, with 20 students being selected to experience MACL’s work environment firsthand. Additionally, ten students will receive gifts during the event.

This initiative marks a significant step in guiding students in their career planning, offering them a closer insight into the aviation sector. It is expected to support more informed career decisions in the future while raising awareness of the diverse roles available within MACL.
