Police Investigate Teacher for Alleged Grooming of Students

The Maldives Police Service has initiated an investigation into allegations involving a male teacher who is accused of grooming students through discussions of inappropriate topics. 

In a statement released to the media today, police confirmed that the case was reported on October 17  from an island in a southern central atoll, which includes Meemu, Faafu, Dhaalu, Thaa, and Laamu atolls. Police refrained from sharing further details, such as where the incident took place, to protect the identities of the children as the case relates to minors.

The teacher involved has been identified as a man; however, authorities have not specified whether he is a local or foreign national.
