Zakat House Signs Agreement with INCEIF for Technical Expertise and Training

The Maldives Zakat House has formalised an agreement with INCEIF University, Malaysia, aimed at enhancing technical expertise, staff training, and promoting the Islamic economy.

The agreement was signed by Izzaddin Adnan, Director General of the Zakat House, and Professor Dr Aishath Muniza from INCEIF, during a delegation visit to Malaysia. This visit followed an invitation from Malaysia’s Minister of Islamic Affairs, Professor Dr. Mohamed Naeem Mukhtar.

Malaysia’s Islamic Affairs Authority, renowned for its robust zakat system, has endorsed the establishment of a dedicated Zakat agency in the Maldives, a decision also supported by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. As part of the visit, the Maldivian delegation received training at various zakat offices in Malaysia.

The Zakat House of the Maldives, inaugurated on 18 December 2023, aims to strengthen the country’s zakat system and enhance the Zakat Fund to ensure more efficient distribution of resources. Current initiatives include digitising services for greater accessibility and engaging with international partners to position the Zakat House as an internationally recognised institution.
