The Maldives Immigration, in partnership with the Maldives Police Service and other authorities, has launched an operation on Guraidhoo Island aimed at tackling illegal immigration and unregistered foreign businesses.

This operation, the first of its kind led by Maldives Immigration on an island, seeks to identify undocumented immigrants and illegal foreign-operated businesses. The initiative is part of a larger national strategy to enforce immigration laws and uphold local business regulations.

Controller General of Immigration, Mohammed Shamman Waheed, confirmed plans to extend this operation to other atolls in the coming years, targeting unregistered foreign nationals and businesses across the Maldives.

Shamman underscored the government’s commitment to addressing illegal immigration within three years, urging businesses to avoid partnerships with undocumented individuals and not to harbour those lacking proper documentation.
