Dhiraagu and Women in Tech Maldives Concludes ‘Girls to Code’ Dhidhdhoo Edition
Dhiraagu and Women in Tech Maldives are proud to announce the successful completion of the Girls to Code HA. Dhidhdhoo Edition, a transformative programme that empowered young girls in HA. Dhidhdhoo with essential coding skills in HTML, CSS, Flask and Python.
The programme was conducted over a period of two months and the participants’ achievements were celebrated at a special closing ceremony held at HA. Dhidhdhoo.
The Girls to Code HA. Dhidhdhoo Edition was designed for girls aged 10 to 13 years, with the goal of inspiring them to pursue opportunities in technology and address the gender gap in the industry. Over the course of two months, 20 participants with no prior experience in coding developed practical skills, ultimately creating their own websites by the end of the programme.
“We believe that the Girls to Code programme empowers young girls to acquire essential skills, ignite interest from an early age, build confidence in their abilities, and find inspiration to explore the tech field further,” stated Bishaara Hameed, Manager of corporate Social Responsibility at Dhiraagu.
Reflecting on the programme, Nahza Ibrahim, President of Women in Tech Maldives, added, “Watching these young girls embrace coding with such enthusiasm and dedication has been truly inspiring. They’ve shown us that with the right support and opportunities, there is no limit to what they can achieve. We hope that this programme not only equips them with technical skills but also sparks a lifelong passion for learning and innovation that will carry them forward into promising futures.”
The Girls to Code HA. Dhidhdhoo Edition is part of Dhiraagu’s commitment to inclusion and women’s empowerment through its CSR programme, which is in collaboration with Women in Tech Maldives. Girls to Code HA. Dhidhdhoo is the fifth edition of the series, following the success of the program held in Fuvahmulah City, GDh. Thinadhoo, Kulhudhuffushi City, and Laamu Atoll.
