The Professional and Career Women Awards 2024 has successfully concluded, honouring exceptional Maldivian women across the country who have made remarkable contributions to their respective fields.
The 6th edition of the Awards was organised by Women in Management (WIM) under the EU’s ‘Accelerating Climate Smart and Inclusive Infrastructure in South Asia’ initiative in collaboration with International Finance Corporation (IFC).
The awards honoured women in fields such as banking, hospitality, media, law, and entrepreneurship for their contributions and leadership. They also acknowledged organisations promoting women’s business leadership.
The event was attended by prominent dignitaries, including Dr. Aishath Shiham, Minister of Family and Social Development; Dr. Maryam Mariya, Minister of Higher Education, Labor, and Skills Development; and H.E. A panel of industry leaders, including Fathimath Manike, Director at the Bank of Maldives, and Abdul Latheef, President of SME Federation Maldives, judged over 50 nominees purely on merit.
In her speech, Sulochana Segera, Founder and Chairperson of WIM, stated, “The Professional & Career Women Awards in the Maldives celebrate a decade-long partnership between WIM and IFC, now extended with EU’s support to promote sustainability and diversity. WIM Maldives is committed to empowering the 2024 Award winners to become role models for equitable and inclusive workplaces.”
