Foreign Experts to Aid Investigation into Ministry Fire, Says CP Ali Shujau

Foreign technical experts will be engaged to assist in the investigation of the fire that destroyed three ministries in the Green Building, Commissioner of Police (CP) Ali Shujau announced today.
Speaking at a press conference, CP Shujau confirmed that the police have taken over the affected site, and a comprehensive investigation is underway.
A major fire broke out this morning at the building housing the Ministry of Housing, Land and Urban Development and the Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure, located on Ameenee Magu in Male’.

Police forensic teams are currently working at the site, gathering evidence and looking for CCTV to analyse to piece together the sequence of events leading to the fire. Statements are also being collected from eyewitnesses and those present during the incident. CP Shujau urged the public to come forward with any information that could assist the investigation.
The fire, which broke out on Thursday, caused extensive damage to the Green Building, which housed the Ministry of Housing, Land, and Urban Development, the Ministry of Climate Change, Environment, and Energy, and the Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure.
