Severe Flooding Forces Evacuation of Five Houses in Malé

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has announced the evacuation of five houses in Malé City following severe flooding caused by heavy rainfall.
Over the past 24 hours, Malé has recorded the highest rainfall in the country, leading to inundated streets and disruptions in daily life. The adverse weather conditions, marked by heavy rains and strong winds, have affected multiple regions across the Maldives.
With recent flooding, our Emergency Response Team from Male’ City Unit is responding by conducting rapid assessments of impacted households in coordination with @NDMAmv and other relevant authorities.

To address the situation, NDMA has supplied 5,000 sandbags to the Malé City Council to help mitigate the impact of the flooding, according to state broadcaster PSM News.

The Maldives Meteorological Service has warned of continued heavy rains, strong winds, and rough seas in various parts of the country. Residents are advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to protect themselves and their property from further damage.
