VIA Reaches Record of 1000 Air Traffic Movements in a Day

Velana International Airport (VIA) has surpassed a milestone in its history, recording over 1,000 air traffic movements in a single day.

On December 22nd 2024, VIA recorded a total of 1,000 movements, including 234 runway operations and 766 seaplane movements. This achievement marks the first time the airport has exceeded the 1000-movement mark within 24 hours, showcasing the growing demand for air travel to and from the Maldives.

Aviators Maldives accredited the milestone as a reflection of the efficiency and dedication of VIA’s Air Traffic Control team.
