WAMCO DMD Shaheed Ibrahim Removed from Post

The Deputy Managing Director of the Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO), Shaheed Ibrahim, was relieved of his duties on Saturday.

The decision was confirmed to local media by WAMCO, which stated that the government had made the call to terminate Shaheed’s employment.

Shaheed was appointed to the position on 23rd April and served less than a year in the role.

His removal follows the appointment of Ibrahim Naaif, former Deputy Managing Director of Fenaka Corporation, as a Deputy Managing Director of WAMCO on 17th September. WAMCO currently has two other Deputy Managing Directors, including former MP Mohamed Abdul Kareem.

Shaheed has a background in the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) and later served as a member of the Senate Council of the People’s National Congress (PNC).

No official reason for Shaheed’s termination has been disclosed.
