MNDF Provided Aid for 58 Households in Male’ Flooding

Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) revealed this morning they have aided 58 households in the aftermath of the flooding in Male’ from the torrential rain early this morning.

In a post on X, MNDF said in their response operation to the flooding in Male’, they have used 23 water pumps in eight different areas of Male’. So far, 13,882 tonnes of water has been pumped from the streets of Male’.

National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) also said they are working alongside MNDF, Maldives Police Service, and Male’ City Council to provide sandbags. They said they are closely monitoring the situation. 

Additionally, Maldives Meteorological Service (MMS) has announced a Yellow Alert for central and north Maldives atolls, from Shaviyani Atoll to Thaa Atoll until 1:00 PM. Torrential rains and strong winds are to be expected in these areas during the period. 

MMS also shared that Male’ recorded 130,7mm of rainfall in 24 hours, from 8:00 AM of January 10, Friday to 8:00 AM of this morning. Hulhumale’ recorded 79.5 mm of rainfall within this period.
