The Maldives Police Service has launched a special operation on the islands of Alifushi and Meedhoo in response to reports of suspected sorcery activities.
The operation, conducted yesterday, forms part of an ongoing investigation into a sorcery-related case that emerged last month. Authorities confirmed that the operation was initiated following a reported incident involving sorcery, though no further details regarding individuals or specific locations were disclosed.
Police carried out simultaneous raids on several houses suspected of involvement in witchcraft practices. During the searches, officers reportedly seized various items, including books and materials allegedly linked to sorcery. Several individuals were taken into custody for questioning but were later released without charge.
This operation follows a similar police action in HA. Kela, where searches were conducted, and items connected to witchcraft allegations were confiscated. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not released additional information concerning the nature of the charges or those involved.
