MNDF Puts Out Fire in Male’ Shop

Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) put out a fire that broke out early this morning in the warehouse of Fruit Tree Apple shop.
In a statement put out by MNDF, they said their Fire and Rescue Services received a report of the fire around 4:20 a.m. this morning. They managed to control the fire by 5:30 a.m. after they got arrived at the site of the fire and completely put it out by 6:00 a.m.
While no one was injured in this incident, the storage of the shop located on Majeedhee Magu in Male’ has been burnt beyond repair, MNDF said.
National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said they identified 33 individuals, consisting of 14 Maldivians and 19 foreigners from 10 households, affected by the smoke from the fire. One family has relocated on their own, while NDMA has provided temporary shelter for 14 Maldivians from five households. The companies sponsoring the foreign workers are providing shelter for 11 migrant workers affected by the fire, while NDMA is providing temporary shelter for eight of them, they said.
