President Muizzu Announces 50 Housing Units to be Built in Rasmaadhoo

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu announced yesterday that this administration plans to develop 50 housing units in Raa Atoll Rasmaadhoo.

He made this announcement while addressing the residents of Rasmaadhoo, in his current tour of Raa Atoll.

While speaking at Rasmaadhoo, the President said he ventures into these local atoll tours after assessing what the people need closely. He acknowledged the many pledges he made to the people of this country, including vows related to the housing crisis. 

“During the campaign period, I pledged to solve the housing crisis this island faces as well,” President Muizzu said in Dhivehi. 

He said that as soon as the council confirms the land allocated for such a housing project, the administration will announce housing projects for 50 units on the island.

Additionally, he said that before the month is over, the administration will announce that it will find contractors to develop housing units in Rasmaadhoo, in addition to the other islands he pledged to develop housing projects on. This work is being done in collaboration with the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure and the Ministry of Finance and Planning.

He also added that the Administration is working to introduce a police presence on the island. He further detailed efforts to relocate the Rasmaadhoo Antennae, stating that relevant Government authorities were in touch with Ooredoo Maldives to resolve the issue.

Speaking at Innamaadhoo yesterday, he said he would also provide a sustainable solution to the housing crisis. According to the President’s Office, President Muizzu said while the education and health sectors are prioritised in the budget, he will ensure the housing crisis is not abandoned.

The President, accompanied by a high-level delegation, embarked on a three-day tour of Raa Atoll on Tuesday. He will return to Male’ today after meeting with the residents of ten inhabited islands in Raa Atoll.
