Gov’t Sets Minimum Wage to MVR 4,500; 45% of Labor Force Expected to be Affected

Gov’t has set official minimum wage lower than recommended; with MVR 4,500 for small businesses, MVR 7,000 for medium businesses, and MVR 8,000 for large businesses.
The newly announced minimum wage is expected to affect 45% of the labor market who are earning a basic salary lower than MVR 5,500.
