Ocean Library Brings Forth Ancient Maldivian History
The purpose of Ocean Library is to highlight ancient and historical writings, literature, and the restoration of manuscripts of the Maldives.
The library includes many varieties of Western, Arabic, Indian and Sri Lankan books that arrived with traveler's, traders, and explorers discovering Maldives.
The library specialises in conducting research of Maldivian historical and linguistic projects.
Ocean Library’s books dates back to thousands of years.
One of the most famous explorers in the world, Ibn Battuta’s book is available at the library. These books highlight his travels from Sri Lanka to the Maldives and our rich culture.
A cozy space that is perfect to read about ancient Maldivian history.
The library is decorated with Aminath Shimha Shakeeb’s (art_by_shimha) paintings. Her landscape watercolor paintings illustrate historical Maldivian buildings and culture.

Ocean Library is open from Saturday to Thursday, 9AM – 10PM and on Friday, 2PM – 10PM at Ma. South Shine, 1st Floor, Chaandhanee Magu.
