People are seen queueing up in front of stores to purchase cigarettes despite the price of a single cigarette pack rising to MVR 95. From 1st August, cigarettes and bidi are charged a specific duty of 3 Rufiyaa per stick and ad valorem rate of 25% on the price in Maldives.
