President Solih Inaugurates Projects in Four Haa Alif Atoll Islands

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih visited four islands in Haa Alif Atoll yesterday, including Ihavandhoo, Molhadhoo, Uligamu, and Thuraakunu where he inaugurated several developmental projects aimed at improving the lives of citizens in the Maldives. 

On Ihavandhoo, President Solih inaugurated multiple facilities, including the expanded harbour developed by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC). The project involved the construction of a 251-metre sea wall, a bridge connecting the sea wall, installation of port lights, and pavement. Additionally, the FENAKA Office building, the school multi-purpose hall, and the community centre were opened to benefit the island’s residents.

Molhadhoo saw the inauguration of its new harbour, powerhouse, and FENAKA Office during President Solih’s visit. The new harbour, spanning 645 feet in length and 250 feet in width, is expected to greatly improve transportation to and from the island. The new powerhouse, three times larger than its predecessor, and the expanded FENAKA Office with increased staff capacity, aim to enhance electricity services on the island.

Uligamu witnessed the completion of a water and sewerage project, a new powerhouse, and the FENAKA Office. The water and sewerage project, implemented by Static Company Pvt. Ltd., addresses the challenge of accessing clean drinking water and sanitation services on the island. The modern powerhouse, with a capacity of generating 458 Kilowatts of electricity, aims to improve energy supply to residents.

On Thuraakunu, the president inaugurated a football ground equipped with modern amenities, including turf installation. The project was contracted to Myna Sports Field Pvt. Ltd. Additionally, the President also inaugurated the ‘Uthuru Vehi’ children’s park on the island, providing opportunities for healthy and active lifestyles for people of all ages.

Throughout his visits, President Solih highlighted the administration’s dedication to improving the quality of life for citizens across the Maldives.
