President-elect Dr. Mohammed Muizzu has ensured that the Thilamale’ Bridge project will continue and that he will make efforts to speed up the process during his administration.
The project, undertaken by the Indian company Afcons Infrastructure Ltd., encompasses the construction of a 6.7-kilometer bridge with a total budget of MVR 7 billion.
During the transitional phase, Muizzu has initiated efforts to gather information on the project. He has also expressed his intention to investigate the reasons behind any project delays and expedite its progress.
One notable aspect the President-elect highlighted is the need for additional sections within the project to connect to Giraavaru. Currently, the bridge project does not encompass this area.
However, Muizzu plans to address this by making corresponding adjustments to the project, expanding its reach.
To overcome any issues in the project’s implementation, Muizzu has expressed his intent to engage in discussions with the Indian government.
The Thilamale’ Bridge, part of the Greater Male’ Connectivity Bridge construction, commenced in August of the previous year.
It stands as the largest structural project within the Male’ region, and the government aims to complete it by 2024.
