Muizzu Sees Promise in China’s Belt And Road Initiative For Future Development

In an interview with China’s Xinhua media, President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu expressed his optimism regarding the role that China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) could play in the nation’s future development.
The BRI, a global infrastructure project initiated by Chinese President Xi Jinping, has gained international attention for its scope and ambitions.
Muizzu highlighted the Sinamale Bridge as one of the most significant projects in the history of the Maldives.
Beyond the bridge, the BRI has facilitated the implementation of several other projects in Maldives, including initiatives in social housing and airport development.
President-elect Muizzu expressed his high hopes for the BRI, emphasising its potential to contribute to the future growth and prosperity of the Maldives.
Over the past ten years, the BRI has overseen major infrastructure development projects in approximately 150 countries.
