Villa College and Students Unite in Donation Drive for Palestine

Villa College, in collaboration with its students, embarked on a charitable mission yesterday to provide support to the Palestinian people in the wake of ongoing war.

The effort was initiated to address the dire circumstances resulting from the ongoing tensions between Israel and Palestine.

This event involved the active participation of Villa College faculty, staff, and the Villa College Staff Club. Notably, the primary force behind the endeavor was the united front of student communities within Villa College. These included the Psychology Association of Villa College, Villa College Business Society, Villa College Law Society, and Villa College Suite Association.

The donation drive took place at various locations across the capital, Male’, including the Islamic Center area, Rasrani Bageechaa, and Jumhooree Maidhaan. Fund boxes were placed in these areas yesterday, after the Friday prayers, and will also be present today from 16:00 to 18:00.

In addition to donations, contributions via online transfers to Bank of Maldives Account No. 7730000348186, held by Suha Jaleel, the Treasurer of Villa College Business Society, were also welcomed.

A total of MVR 55,313.33 was raised yesterday through both the fund boxes and online transfers.

The Villa College and its students are determined to continue this noble initiative, with the fund boxes remaining in place today as well. To further bolster the event, TikTok star Sama is expected to attend and lend support.

It is important to note that all funds collected during the donation drive will be formally handed over to the International Aid Campaign, and a detailed report on the total amount raised will be provided at the conclusion of the event.
