The Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) is on course to finish the construction of four towers before the end of this year as part of the government’s 4,000-flat development project in Hulhumale.

According to Mohamed Affan, the Marketing and Public Relations Assistant Manager at FDC, all concrete works for the eight towers have been successfully completed.

Presently, four towers are undergoing the final stages of finishing works. These include the installation of bathroom fittings, ceiling, and putty work.

The ongoing construction consists of two towers comprising three-bedroom apartments and two towers comprising two-bedroom apartments, totaling 256 and 240 apartments respectively.

Affan highlighted the rapid progress of the construction, emphasising that as concrete works are being finished, the connection utility services such as electricity, water, and sewerage to the flats has begun. At present, four towers are in the process of being linked to these services.

The project was contracted to two Indian companies for the construction of 32 towers, each standing at 16 storeys high and equipped with three elevators designed to reduce congestion and improve public access.

Regarding the elevator installation, Affan revealed that preparations are underway, and the elevators are en route from an overseas location. He mentioned that the elevators will be installed upon the completion of the buildings.

The Housing Scheme, initiated by the ministry, identified over 15,000 eligible candidates for the 4,000 flats. The government proposed to allocate flats to all qualifying individuals; however, the list of recipients is yet to be disclosed.
