Parliament Unveils Order of Members to Lead Sessions in Speaker’s Absence

In a significant development, the Maldivian Parliament disclosed today the updated list of members designated to preside over sessions when both the speaker and the deputy speaker are unavailable.
During the 23rd sitting of this year’s third session today, Speaker Mohamed Aslam officially announced the order of members who will assume the role in such circumstances.
The designated members, listed in order of precedence, are as follows:
- Meedhoo MP Ahmed Siyam Mohamed
- Maamigili MP Qasim Ibrahim
- Eydhafushi MP Ahmed Saleem
- Hanimaadhoo MP Abdul Ghafoor Moosa
- Kudahuvadhoo MP Ahmed Amir
According to the parliament’s regulations, the establishment of the five-member order should occur within two weeks of electing the speaker and deputy speaker, with their names promptly announced to the parliamentary floor.
