Gov’t to Reimburse MVR 200,000 for Hiyaa Flat Finishing Works, Confirms Urbanco

Managing Director Fazul Rasheed of Urbanco has confirmed that MVR 200,000 will be reimbursed to owners for the finishing works of Hiyaa apartments, as initially promised by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu during his presidential campaign.

This announcement addresses circulating rumors suggesting a change in President Muizzu’s stance on reimbursing residents for the finishing works.

During a campaign event in Hulhumale’, President Muizzu had committed to the reimbursement, indicating that MVR 200,000 from the finishing works’ expenses would be repaid through a loan facilitated by Urbanco. 

He further mentioned that this was part of the plan initiated by the previous administration led by former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom, which was responsible for the development of the social housing units.

Additionally, in a meeting with residents of Hulhumale’ Phase II as the president-elect, Muizzu had assured the installation of two additional lifts in each Hiyaa tower, one of which would be spacious enough to accommodate stretchers.
