The CVF, established in 2009 under the leadership of the Maldivian government, aims to unite countries most affected by adverse environmental impacts in international forums such as Conference of the Parties (COP).
The inaugural meeting in November 2009, included 10 member countries. Over time, the CVF has grown to encompass 58 member countries across Asia, Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America, and the Pacific.
Nasheed, who previously served as the parliament speaker, brings additional experience to the position, having acted as CVF’s Thematic Ambassador for Ambition.
