Former STO Managing Director Hussain Amr Mohamed has firmly stated his intention to refrain from discussing the outcomes of The Democrats’ internal election, where 33 pivotal positions hang in the balance.

While the official announcement of the results is pending, party founder Hassan Lateef asserted victory yesterday.

The internal election within The Democrats has generated considerable tension. The outcome, scheduled to be disclosed this afternoon, remains eagerly anticipated.

Amr, reflecting on his political journey of over 15 years, emphasised his willingness to step back when necessary, maintaining his commitment to fundamental principles.

He clarified that he did not vie for the MDP chairperson election and abstained from contesting The Democrats’ candidacy for the presidential ticket.

Attributing his retreats to a sense of duty and devotion, Amr stressed the importance of candidness if deviations occurred, all in the interest of the greater good.

Expressing dissatisfaction with the election outcome, Amr chose not to elaborate further on his sentiments. Meanwhile, The Democrats supporters have expressed unease over the delayed release of yesterday’s election results.

Although provisional results are pending, the party assured its commitment to announcing the results later this afternoon.
