President Dr Mohamed Muizzu attended the groundbreaking ceremony of a new school in the second phase of Hulhumalé, yesterday.
First Lady Sajidha Mohamed and senior government officials were among the attendees at the ceremony.
Speaking at the ceremony, Muizzu stated that the groundbreaking of a new school symbolised the commencement of the Administration’s capacity-building initiatives.
He emphasised the need for capacity building as equivalent to infrastructural development, adding that capacity building is one of his Administration’s top priorities, alongside infrastructural development. Muizzu added that, as planned, he ensured that his first groundbreaking development project was to develop an educational facility.
The new school is one of the administration’s planned initiatives to build educational facilities to meet the growing demands for educational facilities in Hulhumalé. In addition to 54 classrooms and other education-related facilities, the new school building would feature a turf field and accommodate over 1700 pupils.
The project was awarded to Rasheed Carpentry and Construction Pvt. Ltd. (RCC) under the contractor finance model.
