This initiative aligns with the government’s broader strategy to advance the fisheries sector in the Maldives. Notable measures include the establishment of a fisheries education and training college and the requirement for a certified rescue diver on every fishing vessel. These steps are aimed at fostering safety and proficiency within the fishing sector.

In related developments, various initiatives have been outlined by the government to strengthen the fisheries sector, reflecting its commitment to the overall development of the Maldives.
