Minister of Foreign Affairs Moosa Zameer is under scrutiny as South Galolhu MP Ahmed Meekail Naseem proposes summoning him to parliament for questioning regarding the alleged misconduct of three Deputy Ministers in connection to India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
MP Ahmed Meekail Naseem confirmed that he has put forward the proposal to summon Minister Zameer, raising pertinent questions for him to address during the parliamentary session.
Among the questions posed by Meekail are why the government has not issued an official apology for the reported insult to the Prime Minister of India on social media. Additionally, he questions the decision not to dismiss the three deputy ministers involved in the controversy.
Given the current parliamentary recess, unless a special session is convened, Minister Zameer is expected to appear before parliament during its fourth session commencing next February.
Meekail has not limited his concerns to Minister Zameer alone. He has urged the Foreign Relations Committee to bring forth the three suspended deputy ministers and all relevant government officials implicated in the case.
A letter submitted to the parliamentary office outlines the escalating tensions between India and the Maldives, attributed to the insults and humiliation directed at the country by the three state ministers on social media.
