President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has outlined plans to enhance the healthcare system in the Maldives, with a focus on bolstering the number of specialist doctors across the country.
Addressing concerns raised by citizens during a session on the Q&A platform ‘Raeesge Javaab’, Adam Abdulla, a resident of L. Maabaidhoo, highlighted challenges in accessing quality medical care services. These included extended wait times for appointments and the financial burden of medical treatments.
In response, Muizzu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening the national healthcare system, labelling it a cornerstone of their policy agenda. He outlined initiatives aimed at increasing the pool of specialist doctors within the Maldives, citing efforts to recruit both locally and internationally.
Muizzu further detailed plans to streamline appointment scheduling and optimise doctors’ duty schedules to minimise cancellations and maximise patient care time.
