Coast Guard Conducts Vessel Safety Checks with Eid Travel Rush

The Maldives Coast Guard is conducting safety checks of vessels in anticipation of the travel rush following the Fitr Eid holidays.

The Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) said on Friday that the coast guard squadron of its Male Area Command started the “Operation Fitr” to ensure that vessels and passenger safety is maintained during Eid travels.

Coast guard will be checking vessels on 12th and 13th April to check if vessels have all measures specified in the safety certificate, including the marine VHF radio system and the license of the vessel’s captain. 

Meanwhile, Maldives Meterological Service issued a white alert on Saturday from Haa Alif to Vaavu Atoll.
