Muizzu Urges Newly Elected PNC Members to Stay Vigilant, Highlights Duty in Address
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has urged the newly elected parliamentary members of the ruling Progressive National Congress (PNC) to maintain constant vigilance in their duties.
Speaking at a celebratory event last night to mark the PNC’s significant victory in the parliamentary elections held on Sunday, Muizzu called for unity among the elected members, urging them to set aside ideological differences for the betterment of the public.
Addressing the gathering, Muizzu asserted that both the international community and certain segments of Maldivians with alternative agendas have now grasped the genuine aspirations of the Maldivian populace for self-governance.
Directing his comments towards the newly elected lawmakers, cabinet ministers, and senior officials of state-owned enterprises (SOEs), the President emphasised the importance of taking their responsibilities seriously and pledged unwavering dedication to serving the citizens.
“We are poised to witness significant progress in the country. I urge our cabinet ministers, SOE heads, and parliamentary members to maintain round-the-clock vigilance; the past five months have been merely a preamble,” Muizzu remarked.
During the event, Muizzu called upon his allies to reignite their commitment towards the nation’s advancement and reiterated his commitment to fulfilling the promises made during both the presidential and parliamentary campaigns.
Muizzu reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to providing affordable housing for all citizens, bolstering the economy, and undertaking urban development projects tailored to meet public needs nationwide. Additionally, he pledged to implement sustainable development policies in accordance with national priorities.
Furthermore, Muizzu asserted that the international community would respect the Maldivian government’s autonomous decision-making for national development, promising fair treatment to all foreign nations that acknowledge and honour these decisions.
