Gov’t Assures Transparent Allocation Process for Hulhumale’ Flats

The government has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring transparency and fairness in the allocation of flats in Hulhumale’ Phase 2, stating that a dedicated committee overseeing the process will be finalised concurrent with the completion of the flats.

During a press conference at the President’s Office, Chief Spokesperson Heena Waleed provided updates on the progress of the committee, highlighting its expedited efforts.

Under the auspices of the Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC), collaboration with Indian companies has been instrumental in the construction of 16 towers comprising 4,000 units.

Despite the issuance of a beneficiary list, the handover of the flats has been halted by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), which has flagged significant concerns following its investigation into the matter.

In response, the government has convened a new committee tasked with addressing these issues and ensuring that the flats are allocated to rightful owners.

Acknowledging the challenges identified by the ACC, Heena reassured the public that the committee would conclude its work in tandem with the completion of the flats, with the aim of facilitating their handover to rightful owners.

FDC Managing Director, Hamdhan Shakeel, has further underscored the importance of expediting the completion of the 4,000 social housing units in Hulhumale’ Phase II, noting the necessity for an additional investment of MVR 454.5 million to achieve this objective.
