Gov’t Reveals Over 750 Transfer Applications to Malé Schools

The Ministry of Education in the Maldives has disclosed that it has received a total of 790 applications from parents seeking student transfers to schools located in Malé from local islands.

This initiative, which permits transfers both from other islands and within Malé schools, as well as admissions for Grade 1 in Malé schools, was introduced in anticipation of the forthcoming academic year scheduled to commence on May 26th.

While the application window remains open, the deadline for submission is set for 2:00 pm this coming Tuesday. The Ministry has assured that all forms received prior to the deadline will be processed, with responses expected to be provided by the following Monday.

As per the latest data disclosed, a total of 2,290 forms have been submitted for admissions to Grade 1 in schools within the Malé vicinity. Additionally, 1,450 forms have been received for admissions to other grades within the same area, while 660 requests have been made for intra-Malé school transfers.

Of all applications received, the Ministry has confirmed that 790 pertain to transfer requests to schools in Malé from other institutions across the country.

As outlined in the finalised academic calendar, the upcoming academic year is slated to conclude on March 6th, 2025. Subsequently, the annual academic holidays are scheduled to commence on March 9th, extending until April 3rd, 2025.
