Aasandha Company Ltd has unveiled plans to facilitate medical treatment for Maldivians in Thailand and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) under the national health insurance scheme, Aasandha, following President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s directive.
Following initial announcements in January regarding ongoing discussions, the Ministry of Social and Family Development held a press conference yesterday to provide further insights into the arrangement.
Aminath Zeeniya, CEO of Aasandha, affirmed during the event that steps are being taken to implement the arrangements in line with President Muizzu’s vision. Zeeniya highlighted the company’s commitment to diversifying healthcare options beyond the reliance on India and Sri Lanka, which are currently frequented by Maldivian patients.
“The objective is to identify destinations offering superior medical services compared to those presently available, diversifying the healthcare landscape for Maldivian patients,” Zeeniya remarked.
President Dr Muizzu has previously expressed his intention to broaden access to quality healthcare beyond a specific geographical region, emphasising the expansion of Aasandha services to countries renowned for their advanced medical facilities.
