The minister outlined that the government’s expenditure on policing stands at approximately MVR 2 billion, constituting four per cent of the total state budget. This financial commitment underscores the expectation for high-quality services from MPS.
Moreover, Minister Ihusan asserted that the police force possesses the autonomy to execute the strategic plan’s objectives independently. Encouraging proactive measures and accountability, he reaffirmed the government’s stance on impartial law enforcement.
With a focal point on combatting gang-related crimes, Minister Ihusan articulated the government’s ambitious target to eradicate gang presence entirely within the next four years.
He stressed that the overarching goal of MPS should be to foster a law-abiding community, transcending mere crime reduction efforts.
