Sign Language Course for Gov’t Service Workers To Be Launched

The Ministry of Family and Social Development has announced plans to introduce a self-paced sign language course tailored for service workers within the government and state-owned enterprises.

Scheduled to commence in early August, the initiative aims to enhance services provided to individuals with disabilities.

According to a statement released yesterday, Minister Dr Aishath Shiham initiated the course to address the challenges faced by persons with disabilities, facilitating their integration into society.

The Ministry underscored its commitment to equipping service providers with essential skills to improve interactions with individuals with disabilities and special needs.

Future programmes will expand to include training in religious education and life skills.
