The NDMA is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with police and other relevant agencies to ensure public safety. The MET has also forecasted particularly severe weather for the week ahead, with Al Jazeera’s International Weather Report predicting that the Maldivian capital, Malé, could receive a month’s worth of rain over the next three days. During the rainy monsoon season, the average monthly rainfall is typically 100-200 mm.

Residents have been advised to take necessary precautions in response to the severe weather conditions.
