Gov’t Updates Compliance Status for Companies on Expatriate Fees

Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology has announced that 20 companies previously listed as non-compliant with expatriate fee payments have now fulfilled their obligations.

These companies, according to the Ministry, have regularly paid the required fees through the Expat system. The list includes:

  • Horizon Fisheries
  • International Beverages Company
  • PestEx Maldives

  • Pristine Islands Investments
  • RedWave
  • Renaatus Projects
  • Seagull Group
  • SK Maldives
  • The Hawks
  • Universal Enterprises
  • Villa Hakatha
  • Villa Shipping and Trading Company

The Ministry stated that these companies have settled all amounts due to the state to date. The Ministry explained that the names of these entities were included in the announcement issued on 24th July because, at that time, the amount of fees payable to the state exceeded MVR 100,000. 

In June, the Ministry ordered employers to pay more than MVR 1.7 billion within two weeks for permits issued to foreign workers in the Maldives. 

The names of those who failed to make the payments were published in July. As of 13th August, following the release of the list of employers who had defaulted on fees, MVR 183 million had been paid towards the outstanding amount, according to a statement from the Ministry on Wednesday.
