MET Office Issues Nationwide White Alert

The Maldives Meteorological Service (MMS) has issued a white alert for the whole country.

This alert is in effect from 12:00 hours to 18:00 hours today. The forecast warns of heavy rain and thunderstorms with gusts of 40 mph.

Residents and visitors in the affected areas are advised by the MMS to remain vigilant and implement appropriate safety measures.

MMS categorises weather alerts as follows:

• White alert: Alert Level 1
• Yellow advisory: Alert Level 2
• Orange warning: Alert Level 3
• Red warning: Alert Level 4
