Gov’t Declares September 5th a Public Holiday for National Day
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has declared Thursday, September 5, 2024, a Government holiday to mark this year’s National Day of the Maldives.
The announcement was made in a directive the President’s Office issued yesterday.
Maldives National Day also known as Qaumee Dhuvas in Dhivehi, is observed to celebrate the victory of Mohamed Thakurufaanu over the Portuguese occupation in the year 1573.
